Editorial Policy
Last updated October 2026. Independent site, not affiliated with TDLR.
Summary: We cite primary Texas sources first, link to the exact page that supports a claim, fix errors when they're reported, and never present our guides as legal advice. For license status, TDLR is the only source of record.
Sources: Primary Texas Law and Regulators First
We follow a source allowlist, in this order of priority:
- Texas statutes and the regulator: Texas Occupations Code Chapter 1958, the TDLR mold program and its rules and publications, and TDLR License Search for license status.
- Other Texas agencies where relevant, such as the Texas Department of Insurance for insurance questions.
- Federal public-health agencies for health and moisture guidance, such as the EPA and CDC.
We don't treat contractor marketing pages, forums, or uncited statistics as authorities. When a claim depends on a source, we link to that specific page rather than a homepage, and we don't invent URLs, figures, or quotes. When a statute or rule changes, such as SB 1255's 2025 amendments to Chapter 1958, we update the affected pages to reflect the current law.
How Our Content Is Produced
Our core reference pages, like the license verification guide and Texas mold laws overview, are built directly from the primary sources above and cite them inline. Some articles on our blog are drafted with automated writing tools. Those tools are told to use only the allowlisted sources and are not allowed to invent links or statistics. Directory and license tables come from TDLR data, as described on our methodology page.
We don't add footers that credit or advertise writing software or AI tools on individual articles. This policy is our disclosure of how content is produced, and the sources linked in each article are how you can check it. Featured contractors don't write, pay for, or approve our guides.
Corrections Policy
- License data: license details come from TDLR, so errors must be fixed at TDLR. Confirm on TDLR License Search. Our directory updates at the next weekly refresh after TDLR's public data changes.
- Guides and pages: if you spot a factual error, an outdated law, or a broken link, call (512) 522-6796 with the page and the issue. We check the report against primary sources. If we're wrong, we correct the page and update its date. We correct substantive errors rather than quietly deleting them.
Independence and Disclosure
Texas Mold Remediation is an independent directory and education site. We are not a mold contractor and we are not affiliated with TDLR. Some pages feature contractors or phone numbers that may connect you with listed or partner businesses. Our About page explains this, and featured placement never changes TDLR license data.
Not Legal, Medical, or Insurance Advice
Our content is general information for Texas property owners, tenants, and buyers. It is not legal advice, and it is not medical or insurance advice. Laws and TDLR rules change, and how they apply depends on your facts. For a specific situation, rely on the current text of Chapter 1958, TDLR Customer Service (800-803-9202), a licensed Texas attorney, your doctor, or your insurer.
